Dear Parents
We are nearly at the end of Term 1 and it is time for another newsletter to bring you up to date about all that is happening in school.
Thank you for all the generous donations to our Harvest Festival. There are lots of lovely thank you letters from our older residents who received harvest gifts.
A show of hands in assembly on Monday showed that the children are taking their Walk to School Week responsibilities very seriously. Don’t forget the Park and Stride option – using the car park of the Old Neighbourhood pub; it’s a great way to finish off the journey to school with a pleasant walk through the village if you live too far to walk all the way.
It was a real pleasure to take our oldest children on their residential trip last week. They have the makings of a great Year 6, mature, hard working and full of fun. Crawling on our tummies through
School Governors
Parents are often unsure about the work of school governors and their role. A new link on our school website provides some useful information as well as a thumbnail sketch of each of our current governing body ( www.chalfordschool2.ik.org )
It is no surprise they were judged to be outstanding in our Ofsted inspection last year; they are a very talented and hardworking group who are actively involved in all aspects of school life.
It might be reassuring to know that all fourteen governors have had children at the school over the years and have a deep seated interest in ensuring its continuing success.
PTA
Our current PTA committee is the biggest I can remember; my thanks to all those who have volunteered and to Mrs Haywood for taking over the Chair.
Their next big event is, of course, the School Bonfire and Fireworks Display, set for 10th November. This is always one of the highlights of our year.
Breakfast Club
Our Breakfast Club is launched at the start of next term. We intend this to be a permanent service, depending on the uptake. However, we guarantee that it will operate for at least this school year before we make any decision about the future.
Until the club is full each day, it is possible for parents to use it at short notice, even without letting us know beforehand. But this is only an option if you have registered your child/children’s details with us beforehand – contact numbers, medical information, etc. A form is available at the office if you decide this might be useful.
Meanwhile, we would be grateful for any games you may have tucked away at home, in good condition but which you no longer use and you would be happy to donate; board games, dominoes, card games, etc. which the children can use after breakfast. My thanks in advance – please drop them off at the office.
Have a lovely break – don’t forget, the children finish next Tuesday (Wednesday is an Inset day – staff only). Children return to school on Monday 2nd November.
My Best wishes
Please click on the link below for Privacy Notice for pupils in schools (this replaces the Fair Processing Notice which we have had to give to parents each year). This now only has to be issued once during your child’s time at this school.
